Key standards for steel poles
- IS 2713 — the standard for tubular steel poles for overhead power and lighting; defines dimensions and the stepped/swaged construction of tubular poles.
- IS 2629 / IS 4759 — hot-dip galvanizing: the recommended practice and the coating requirements for galvanized steel, which govern corrosion protection.
- IS 875 (Part 3) — wind loads on structures; used to design poles and masts for the wind zone of the installation site.
- IS 2062 — the structural steel grade commonly used for pole shafts, base plates and brackets.
How to use them
You don't need to be a standards expert. Naming the pole type, height, finish and site wind zone lets the manufacturer apply the right standards.
